The National Institute of Education
Symphonic Band (Youth) was set up in 28 October 2008
under the baton of Mr. Kuek Ser Hong Andrew, current
Chairman of the main band. It aims to provide an
environment for aspiring young musicians to continue
their passion for music.
In 10 February 2007, NIESB (Youth) made their first
public appearance together with its main band, National
Institute of Education Symphonic Band, at its annual
concert,
OPUS 32.1 Russian Rendezvous.
Also in the same year, the youth band had a combined
performance with the main band, Pops in Holland-V, under
the baton of Assoc. Prof Ho Hwee Long, Mr Mohamad Rasull
and Mr Andrew Kuek on 19 August.
The band is made
up mostly of students
from various institutions
all around
the country. Rehearsal studios, instruments, music
library and guidance from the NIESB are provided giving
the youths ample opportunities to develop musically.
